PLAY WHERE THE FUTURE STARS OF TOMORROW PLAY
Orange County National Golf Club in Orlando, Florida, is the site of the 2011 World Golf Teachers Cup and the United States Golf Teachers Cup, October 11-14. Orange County National’s two courses, Crooked Cat and Panther Lake, have hosted the finals of PGA Tour Q-School several times, and offer outstanding playing conditions. The courses are a rarity in Orlando as they are in a rural setting with no homes.
The US Golf Teachers Cup will be played Tuesday and Wednesday, October 11-12. This is a 36-hole individual stroke-play event with Championship (formerly Open), Ladies, Senior (50+), Super Senior (60+) and Legends (70+) divisions. There will be additional prize money for ladies 50 and over, as in years past. Only men in the Championship division, and also all in the Ladies division, are eligible to compete for the overall United States Golf Teachers Cup championship.
The 10th biennial World Golf Teachers Cup will be played on Thursday and Friday, October 13-14, with both the individual and team championships at stake. The individual championship format will be the same as in the US Cup with Championship (formerly Open), Ladies, Senior (50+), Super Senior (60+), and Legends (70+) divisions. Only men in the Championship division, and also all in the Ladies division, are eligible to compete for the overall individual World Golf Teachers Cup championship. However, team members may come from any division, and teams will be selected based on nationality, with six players per team.
The largest purse in US and World Cup history, $60,000, will be offered based on a full field of 208 players.
Practice rounds are available on Sunday and Monday, October 9-10, for $65 plus tax. This fee includes range balls prior to play.
Entry deadline is Wednesday, September 28, 2011, 5:00 p.m. EDT. Entries will be handled on a first-received, first-served basis.
